Samsung gonna compete LG’s OLED by building ‘QD-OLED’ TV’s
If we talk about OLED technology on mobile displays, Samsung is a trustable brand in this sector. Many famous mobile brands including Apple itself uses screens modified by Samsung for building iPhones. But in the case of building a TV, LG is a tough
competition for Samsung in the case of OLED technology. The previous tests show LG to perform better than Samsung.
Now Samsung is planning to beat LG through its very new ‘QD-OLED’ technology as it announced to invest 11$ billion by October 2025 in this project.
If you aren’t familiar with the term OLED and QD-OLED then let me tell you, OLED stands for ‘Organic Light Emitting Diode’ and QD-OLED refers to ‘Quantum Dot Organic Light-Emitting Diode’.
So, let’s get back to the topic. In the recent past, Samsung tried to
build 55 inch Super OLED but as researchers said it may cause
different problems in Tv’s and it may damage within a few years. Recently Dr. Eunjoo Jang and Dr. Yu-Ho Won have published a paper about their new ‘QD-OLED’ technology. They plan to use indium phosphide rather than using toxic Cadmium in this ‘QD-OLED’ technology.

It is expected that Samsung Display’s QD-OLED panels will also use just two emitting layers compared to four used by LG Display. It will consist of 13 layers of the stack, where 22 used LG
display. Samsung display will also adapt its existing Liquid Crystal Display lines to QD-OLED, with the goal of expanding production output for new technology within 2025. Samsung The display’s eventual production capacity is supposed to be larger than LG Display’s if it becomes successful in its QD-OLED project.
At the news announcement event of Samsung, South Korea’s President Moon Jae-in was a special guest and he applauds both Samsung and LG Display’s for their role in the OLED production sector.
Samsung’s big investment in building ‘QD-OLED’ display’s can change the future of the in upcoming decades and it may take Samsung to the top in this sector. But a lot could change in the middle years as LG displays are also believed to be carrying out its own research into ‘QD-OLED’.
